Ron Montero is a renowned rum distillery located in Motril, only 6 km (8 min drive from Villa la Colina). 

Founded in 1963 by Francisco Montero, the distillery has a rich history and is known for its traditional methods of rum production. The distillery uses locally grown sugar cane and employs time-honored techniques to create its rums, which have garnered acclaim both in Spain and internationally.

The distillery offers free tours (about 1h) where visitors can visit the distillery, learn about the rum-making process and try the different types of rum. Ron Montero produces a variety of rums, each with its own distinct flavor profile, including the popular Ron Pálido Montero and Ron Gran Reserva. These rums are celebrated for their smoothness and rich flavors, which reflect the unique terroir of the region.
